Class Descriptions

Introduction to Yoga - Students new to yoga are encouraged to attend at least one six-week Introductory Class Series to learn about basic yoga history, science, philosophy, and health benefits. In this class new and continuing students learn and experience more about breath awareness, basic yoga poses, and how to become relaxed and energized!

Hatha Yoga (Level 1) - This class is for beginners and continuing students and provides instruction around the variations of postures so that students at every level can participate.

Hatha Yoga (Level 2) - This class includes more advanced postures and breath work, and holds postures a little longer. Students must have permission from their teacher to move into this class.

Vinyasa-Style Yoga (Level 2) - This class includes more advanced postures and moves a little more quickly through the sequences of poses. Students must have permission from their teacher to move into this class.

Lunch-time Express Yoga - High Noon Yoga! Need a little mid-day break? Join us for a relaxing, rejuvenating 45-minute yoga class!

Prenatal Yoga - This class is designed to help students begin or continue yoga safely throughout pregnancy. It focuses on increasing space and oxygen for the baby and relaxing the mind and body so you can enjoy your pregnancy and prepare for childbirth.

Gentle Restorative Yoga - This class is for anyone recovering from illness, injuries or with other health considerations/limitations. Restorative yoga helps facilitate the body's own natural healing process. Gentle yoga postures are modified to meet students' specific needs.

Pilates Mat Classes - Classes emphasize the core muscles of the abs, back and hips, creating a strong core to support the spine.

Kids Yoga - This class helps improve focus, concentration, balance, coordination and self-esteem in a fun, playful environment.

Yoga for Teens - This class teaches basic postures, self-awareness, confidence and how to be calm, relaxed and energized.

T'ai Chi - T'ai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art form that was developed to enhance both physical and emotional well-being. It's been said that t'ai chi is a combination of moving yoga and meditation. A person performs t'ai chi by practicing breathing exercises and a series of slow, graceful, flowing postures (also called poses) simultaneously. The postures consist of movements that improve body awareness and enhance strength and coordination.

Guided Meditation - Among its many benefits, meditation improves metabolism, blood pressure, brain activation, and other bodily processes, as well as reduces stress and pain. It cultivates awareness and helps one to live more fully and joyfully in the moment. In our Guided Meditation classes students learn and experience yoga poses, breathing exercises, guided relaxations, and how to train the mind to become calm and peaceful.

Yin Yoga - Yin Yoga contains the ancient, and some say original, form of asana practice. The sages who pioneered the path of yoga used asanas to strengthen the body, so that they could sit for long periods in contemplative meditation. If you have ever sat for a long time with legs crossed, you know the hips and lower back need to be strong and open. The sensations you felt were deep in the connective tissues and the joints. These are the deep yin tissues of the body, relative to the more superficial yang tissues of muscles and skin. Yin Yoga opens up these deep, dense, rarely touched areas.

Private Instruction - Synergy also offers private instruction in your home or at the Three Chopt Center location. Contact us for more information.
